On this website you can find details regarding the history of Hoyland and District RBL Branch from its formation as Hoyland Royal British Legion in 1935, to its reformation as Hoyland and District Royal British Legion in 1989, as well as details of events locally within the Hoyland and District Royal British Legion Branch areas. Hoyland and District Royal British Legion is part of the Royal British Legion South & West Yorkshire group.

We do not have a RBL Club but other Royal British Legion Branches around us in South & West Yorkshire group RBL area have. All links on this site are marked in red and underscored just click to go to that link.

Royal British Legion Membership in South & West Yorkshire is open to everyone who:

* are currently serving (whether regular or reserve)

* have served (including National Servicemen)

* have not served but support the aims of the Royal British Legion

Our Roll of Honour pages cover War Memorials of Blacker Hill and Hoyland with the eventual inclusion of Memorials within the local Churches of Hoyland, Elsecar Hoyland Common, Hoyland Town Hall, and Wentworth. A separate page will also be included were past members of Hoyland and District Royal British Legion can also be remembered by their families.

Hoyland and District Royal British Legion Branch as part of the South & West Yorkshire RBL group cover the following areas:

Hoyland - Hoyland Common - Birdwell - Blacker Hill - Platts Common - Elsecar - parts of Worsbrough and until this year for the Poppy Appeal we used to cover the Wentworth Area (Rotherham).

We meet at the Catholic Club West Street Hoyland, Barnsley, South Yorkshire on the second Thursday of each month 19.30 Hours (07.30 PM)

In the near future a Forum will be available to leave your comments regarding the ex-service Community within Hoyland and District RBL Branch area.

While the Royal British Legion is committed to helping young people understand the issues of Remembrance, conflict and the importance of peace.

Please note, that as a branch, we do not undertake family history projects, school history homework or research into individuals who are ex-Service or who were killed in action, from Hoyland - Hoyland Common - Birdwell - Blacker Hill - Platts Common - Elsecar - Worsbrough or Wentworth areas, and would ask not to use the Forum for such requests, any such entries will be removed.
